Kids aged 2–8 pick up language and ideas from whatever surrounds them, without having to try. That is the main benefit of starting young: at this age learning happens through play rather than through effort, so your kids absorb English the way they absorb everything else around them. The years up to about six are when language skills develop fastest, and from six to eight, regular practice is what helps your kids keep what they have already learned.
The Lingokids app is built for kids aged 2–8 for exactly this reason.
Why Do Young Kids Learn So Easily?
Young kids learn from their environment and from whatever they are exposed to, without consciously working at it. Maria Montessori called this the absorbent mind, and described it in her book The Absorbent Mind as the defining feature of the years from birth to around age six.
During those years, kids take in the language, sounds, and culture around them unconsciously, rather than by studying. Grown-ups learn differently, working at new knowledge deliberately. Because this is also the period when language skills develop fastest, what your kids are exposed to during it makes a real difference.
Why Does Practice Matter Between Ages 6 and 8?
Between roughly six and eight, the brain begins tidying up connections it does not use often, a process known as synaptic pruning. Connections that get used regularly are the ones that stay, which frees up capacity for what your kids actually rely on.
The practical upshot for your family is simple: kids who keep using what they have learned tend to hold onto it. Short, regular sessions do more than occasional long ones.
How Does Lingokids Build on This?
The Lingokids methodology is built on natural assimilation, meaning your kids pick up English naturally and spontaneously through play instead of through drills. Made by parents and educators.
