Understanding Charges on Your Account

If a Lingokids charge has turned up unexpectedly, there are a handful of usual explanations — and one of them is that it isn't a completed charge at all, just a pending authorisation from Google. Here's how to work out which.

Why Am I Seeing a Charge?

• Auto-renewal — every subscription renews on its own each billing period. To avoid the next charge you need to cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date
• A free trial ending — trials turn into paid subscriptions automatically when they run out
• Someone else in the household subscribed — using the same card, on their own account
• More than one account — if two accounts were set up, you may be paying for both

Deleting the app doesn't cancel anything. You have to cancel through the platform you subscribed with — here's how to cancel your subscription.

How Do I Tell If a Charge Is From Lingokids?

Look at the wording on the charge. A Lingokids subscription shows up as one of these, depending on where you subscribed:

• Apple or iTunes Bill — through the App Store
• Google Lingokids — through Google Play
• Lingokids or Monkimun — on our website. Monkimun is our company name
• Amazon — through the Amazon Appstore

Why Does a Google Play Charge Look Pending?

If you subscribed through Google Play, you may see a charge that looks started but not completed. That's Google's payment process, and it applies to every app and subscription, not just ours.

Google puts through a pre-authorisation request, which begins the charge without completing it. Cancel the subscription and the charge stops and the amount is released back to you. If your Google Play subscription shows as Canceled, nothing was ever charged.

What If I've Been Charged Twice?

That usually means two accounts. Send us both charges — a screenshot of each is ideal — and we'll work out which accounts they belong to and help you close the one you don't want.
